Reliable health information websites for your kids

I just wanted to share some websites that will give you RELIABLE information about a vast array of child health topics. The links are on the right side of the page.

I know there are some parents out there that are reluctant, to say the least, about vaccinations. This website answers many of your questions with RELIABLE, quality, controlled research-backed information about vaccinations. It dispels the myths and provides the scientifically proven truth about vaccinating your baby.

If you're still reluctant about the science, then take note of this fact: the VAST majority of pediatricians, and other professionals that work with children in a variety of capacities, vaccinate their own children. To me, this is the single best endorsement of vaccinations.

One of the best resources online for infectious disease topics as well as great information for childhood disease as well as a multitude of other health topics - for kids and adults.

Dr. Richard Allen Turner

"THE KID DOC"

Thanks for visiting Dr. Turner's -- The Kid Doc's -- blog page. Prior to medical school, he travelled extensively, worked in a variety of fields, gaining significant "real world" experience, which would ultimately aid him greatly in his practice as a pediatrician.

In 1998, at age 24, he moved to Los Angels, where for three years, he pursued a career in acting, performing in several minor film, television, and commercial roles. As a way to gain steady income while pursuing acting, which is anything but steady income, he got a job working in group homes caring for children with special needs at the Dubnoff Center in North Hollywood.

After that, he went on to Hillsides Home for Children in Pasadena, a residential care facility for children of all ages, serving as Program Director. These two jobs proved pivotal in his career choice, ultimately as a pediatrician. During his time at these two wonderful, caring facilities, Dr. Turner returned to school to earn his college degree.

Dr. Turner completed his undergraduate training at California State University at Los Angeles, earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a Minor in Biology.

He then moved back to his home state of Ohio in the winter of 1997 and worked as an Adolescent Substance Abuse Counselor. It was shortly after returning to his Ohio roots, and experiencing the joy of working with children that needed help the most, that he committed himself to the pursuit of a career in medicine.

Dr. Turner attended medical school at The Wright State University School of Medicine, now known as The Wright State University-Boonshoft School of Medicine, located in Dayton, Ohio, earning the Doctor of Medicine degree in 2005.

Following medical school, he completed his training in Pediatrics at the Wright State/Children's Medical Center Combined Pediatrics Residency Program, also in Dayton, Ohio.

He now is a full-time practicing pediatrician at Rocking Horse Community Health Center in Springfield, Ohio between Columbus and Dayton. Rocking Horse is a Federally Qualified Health Center, serving the underserved children and adults (at our adult center), of Clark and surrounding counties.

We also provide Child Psychiatry and behavioral, mental health, and therapy services, care for children in foster care, and children with special healthcare needs within a medical home environment. Our philosophy is simple: Every Child Deserves a Medical Home and quality health care. Obstetrical services round out a vast array of services for both children and adults of this underserved community. Dental and Pharmacy services are being planned.

Dr. Turner is actively involved in, and enjoys, teaching Wright State medical students Pediatric medicine. Future plans include continuing to practice and teach, but also become actively involved advocacy and child health legislation as well as being a voice for child health issues in various media outlets.
